This book is filled with awesome, jaw dropping and heartwarming stories of how these animals are so greatly benefitting us humans through not only friendship and companionship, but also as "therapy and service" animals. You will meet "Dare", a two-legged dog (both legs are on one side) who visits hospital amputation wings. To observe patients who are debating whether or not to have an amputation and continue living versus dying, to see their respect and amazement for this little brave dog aid them in making the decision for life is simply inspirational. Or, you'll learn about a dog named "Chaco" who has the ability to predict when a seizure is about to happen and prevent his owner from getting into and driving a car. Or, Koko the gorilla who can communicate over 1,000 words in sign language ... a pet chicken who rides on a motorcycle and many, many more.

I had just finished reading my copy of this, Mr. Carwile's latest book in his Maxwell Winston Stone series: AND THE AMIMALS SHALL TEACH US; Angels in Disguise, and was walking my own dear friend, Brahnan (a black American Field Lab) in some wooded fields near my home in Tacoma WA. I was reflecting on the tears of sadness, tears of joy, angst, laughter and amazement that had befallen me throughout my reading. I was considering the beauty of the interactions between humans and their animal counterparts; reveling at the pleasure, joy, peace, and overall care that each had brought to the other. The thoughtful bliss was erased in an instant when a harsh voice cried out: "Is this your dog running wild around here?". Brahnan imagines and sometimes actually sees squirrels running among the the live oak trees. His gleeful pursuit of critters he cannot catch would be an all day endeavor if time allowed. I responded that indeed he was my companion. The person's comeback was so strange. "Your dog is ruining the enviroment!". This was said to me as I stood with beer and cola cans at my feet and glass bottles and plastic cups within view. This book is not just for animal lovers and our second copy is going to be pressed into service by being offered to those we know who are not real friends or fans of animals. As we move deeper into the 21st century I know for sure that the thoughts of Einstein, Gandhi, Whitman, St.Francis of Assisi, and Maxwell Winston Stone as compiled by Mr. Carwile along with his own research and prose are a much needed catalyst for real harmony on this the mother ship.Product details

AND THE ANIMALS SHALL TEACH US; Angels in Disguise Ernie Carwile 9780979617645 Books Reviews
Another fantastic read from Ernie. Any animal lover in the world should read this and marvel at the hidden side our pets don't always show. This is another great read from a series we all should love, share Maxwell Winston Stone with your friends.
Ernie,
It was a pleasure to get to know you briefly while you were doing your research for this book! Thanks for the fun and heartfelt words about the beauty of how animals have so many lessons for us humans moving forward as a species. The animals have and have always had it right.......
This is a wonderful read for anyone. It brings a smile to my face when I read it. My dog has been an angle to me. This book is outstanding with so many heart warming stories of animals. The author gave a voice to the voiceless, the animals. We know they speak, but we need others to know. This book is the best tool to let others understand them.AND THE ANIMALS SHALL TEACH US; Angels in Disguise
What a touching collection of animal anecdotes and inspirational messages. Ernie has done a wonderful job of reminding us of the integral role that animals play in our lives, whether we consider ourselves to be dog people, cat people, or I'd-rather-not-have-a-pet-but-I-appreciate-them-from-afar people. I shed more than a few tears while reading, but I also did a whole lot more laughing out loud than I initially expected that I would. This would make an excellent gift for any animal lover. Bravo, Mr. Carwile!
"If I were more like my dog, I'd be a better human being" is just one of the many heartfelt quotes you will find in this wonderful book. And the poem "If You Could" will touch the core of what humans should strive to become. It alone is worth the price of this book. Buy it, read it alone and enjoy the instant connection you will feel towards your pet and all that is in the universe.
Thank you, Mr. Carwile, for the memories and emotions this work has stirred.

Followers of Ernie Carwile's Maxwell Winston Stone series will find his latest project every bit as inspirational as the previous installments. Carwile's heartfelt anecdotes offer parents an excellent bedtime reading opportunity to their children that promotes the development of moral constructs, a welcoming soul, and a sensitivity for and to our four-legged angels. Perhaps these are simple lessons of which we all need be reminded from time to time. I read excerpts to my cat, Itty, who proffered two paws up.
In this day and time when crooked bankers, corporate executives and politicians have devastated our well-being and economy by all manners of proclivities, along comes author Ernie Carwile with a few breaths of fresh air and good news. His eighth and latest book in the Maxwell Winston Stone series titled "And The Animals Shall Teach Us Angels in Disguise" (Verbena Pond Publishing, 2012) is all about how non-human animals enrich our lives in a myriad of ways through direct assistance, teaching by example, and displaying the very best characteristics for ensuring a peaceful and prosperous planet. From geese to gorillas and horses to hedgehogs, his examples and experiences run through a phenomenal range of behaviors, skills, and courage we can all learn from. The animals, topics, and themes are widely varying but all convey important messages for those of us that read books. Written as a series of vignettes, the book is a wonderful source of bedtime stories for youngsters that are beginning to form their lifetime value systems. Having completed the book, I am now strongly considering writing in the name of a horse on my next congressional ballot. Best wishes, Z. G. S. Bear in Divide, Colorado USA
